Hey!  I thought that, in honor of Thanksgiving, I would donate to the chip-in on here to help needy dogs.  The link wouldn't work for me, but I will keep trying.  I can't put much in there, but…Continue

Introducing a new dog into a "pack"

Posted on December 8, 2010 at 2:55pm 3 Comments

I know a lot of people aren't fans of Caesar Millan, but I did just see a little piece on his show that makes a lot of sense. He was working with a Puli with fear aggression. When he introduced the dog to his pack, he had the owners rubber band the hair out of the Puli's eyes so that the dog's eyes were clearly visible. He said that would help the pack to not think the dog was weird and help them to read his expressions/intent better. That really does make a lot of sense. I have done that in…

URGENT TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME NEEDED

Posted on November 19, 2010 at 7:30pm 19 Comments

For two darling, little Schnoodle girls in who are currently living in Cornwall, NY. The family adopted these girls from me about a year ago. The young son has developed severe asthma, and they may have to rehome Thumbelina and Toto. They are heartbroken over this. I suggested they try removing the dogs from the home for a period of time - maybe one or two months - to see if it had any impact on her son's allergies; if it didn't, they could take them back home and continue to look for other…

OK, time to have some fun

Posted on November 11, 2010 at 1:59pm 20 Comments

I am starting this blog to bring some laughter and fun onto my page instead of all this sadness and tragedy! Not sure if this is the place to do that, or if I am doing this right, but what the heck.

I'm starting with corny old joke of the day:

What does the dyslexic agnostic do when he can't sleep?

Lies in bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering if there is a dog!

harhar - oldie but goodie!

OK - someone else's turn!

Eliz, how about one of the bigger transporters, they don't go to BC? Maybe get in touch with Terri of Poodle Rescue VT, maybe she'd have an idea. She's closer than you are. Tough one. How are you doing with your packing? When's moving day? I am glad you are keeping your spirits up and staying positive. That is the most important thing to do. When the world is dishing crap, you have to keep smiling. Did you read my note on FB? I am done being nice to these people.

Miss you too, GF. We have had a ton of snow and it feels like we have been shoveling for a year. Then I had a wake and funeral yesterday and today, postponed from Tues/Wed because of the weather. The roads are still awful so the drive that should have taken 15-20 min, took 1.5 hours yesterday and an hour today. I took Flynn to his new family yesterday before the wake, so no puppy today. Too quiet. I am sorry about you're not feeling well again. I hope you are on the mend now. Miss you too. Let's talk soon.

Absolutely, yes Antlers are OK for dogs. I keep a supply of monster Antlerz that I buy from http://www.bestbullysticks.com/home/bbs/page_1675_25/monster_antlerz.html

I find that the monster size lasts at least 4 months - Georgia is an aggressive chewer so this is good. Sammie and Abbey are not as aggressive chewers so the monster size last forever for them. I would highly recommend Antlers instead of bones or man-made chews.

Hey, a Thanksgiving with oodles of doggies is not so shabby. But I wouldn't cook them a turkey because I heard turkey meat is not the best for dogs. How are your skills with stalking and hunting deer? You get venison meat and antlers for chews...LOL!

Hey, shouldn't you be cooking a big fat turkey? I have an excuse, I am a Canadian who had Thanksgiving a month ago.
