I'm so sad to tell you about Abbey.

She's a beautiful chocolate labradoodle with a terrible case of hip displaysia - so bad that she has no hip sockets at all and can barely walk.

Doesn't this quote touch your heart?:
"In the last month, we noticed that after walking a short distance, maybe 5 minutes,  Abbey just lays down.  She doesn’t cry.  She just gives up."

Please take the time to read about Abbey and give if you can. Wouldn't the gift of walking pain-free be a wonderful Christmas present?

Oh how horrible and such a beautiful girl. Our hearts go out to her family and if any of my members can help in any way, I hope they will. This is such a worthy and wonderful organization that is there if any of our Doodles ever needs such a resource.
She is so beautiful.....this breaks my heart!
Thanks for your support, Lynne. This one just breaks my heart...when I see my Nick running happily after a ball, I think of Abbey, who can't walk more than 5 minutes. Sure be nice if we could help her!
I will get it into this weeks newsletter, too. I am thinking like you, Karan. Looking at my pack and so Thankful for their health. It does break my heart.
I'm so sorry for beautiful Abbey. I hope and pray that help will come soon so she can have the surgery to relieve all her pain.
Poor Abbey! I will send a donation for her, my way of paying it forward for all the help I got with Grant and the other Arkansas Doodles. How can breeders not know they are breeding dogs with bad hips?!?!
I had a phone call today from the owner of yet another Parti Standard Poodle with dayblindness that came from Velvet's breeder. And this woman KNEW her dogs carried the gene!
Sending prayers to Abbey and her family from all the Arkansas Doodles.
Thank you so much, Elizabeth!
This is such a sad story, as are all of the doodles in need stories on the Doodle Messenger.

Will Doodle Messenger be doing another set of cards or a similar "fund raiser" for doodles in need again soon? I liked the idea that I was purchasing something for a good cause. Plus, sadly, there are many doodles in need on the Messenger and I liked knowing buying the cards helped everyone. I wouldn't know how to "choose" otherwise.

P.S. I can't wait to get my cards - I've heard (read) that they are just GORGEOUS. I haven't been able to check my mailbox in a week but I will be going on Saturday!
Yes, we are planning another set , and want to get submissions of photos from all doodle owners on the 'net. Will let you know when it's time.
