Hi ! My name is Max, Currently I'm in Western, NC & going to my first good manners schooling & it's fun. I learned to Sit-Stay & Down-Stayfor a full minute after just one week ! Also I know to sit for affection and understand that all 65lbs of me needs to be calm - but it's difficult & I need to be reminded, on occasion. My bad habit of body hugs is completely cured, it's the calm environment. They are working with me on what they call "leave it" & ya' know I finally get it - if I let them have the stick or ball they won't turn their backs & ignore me. Thought they were weird but they won't play by my rules of "grab it from me if you can" and if I play by their rules it is fun for us all. The Golden Retriever in me really comes out when I play fetch. There is a lake here & I learned how to retrieve in the water, WOW it's sooo much fun & they say I am really a great swimmer. Of course you already know that I am beautiful, especially after a bath, brush & blow dry and I love both and well behaved, cause I don't want it to stop. Here in the house I sleep all nite by their bed, I was afraid before when I had to always stay outside. I still need encouragement when it's dark outside & I like company for potty time if it's dark. This time I hope to have a family that is hair savy. They must realize that even though I don't shed & have no dander, my hair does grow fast & needs lots of grooming or you can keep me cut short. I am short now because my last home did not understand about grooming & let me get matted, so I've got a crew cut, and I still look good. Living in a fenced yard was like being is a prison..Don't get me wrong, I loved my family but they worked, 8-10 hours I was left alone & bored. They came home to children, dinner, homework, baths, & kinda forgot about me. Except for saturday for a few hours & I was just sooo happy to see them that I would get a bit carried away & they said I was too playful & they say couldn't bond with me.
You must know that I am very smart, completely house trained, polite, crate trained but you should never need to because I do not chew anything that isn't mine & I do know what is mine, polite with food & will share, very much want to be next to you, will go to bed on my own after a long day and still let you sleep til 7am. I am curious about the cat. When I nuzzle her she spits at me & growls & if she runs I run after her, just to play but she doesn't know that & I am too big to play with her. I like to ride & know to stay in the very back of the 4 Runner, I know better & do not try to come forward in the vehicle. I play ball with myself at times but when you play with me I can catch the ball in mid air, cool huh! I would like to meet prospective new family members. My foster parents are ok with you coming to meet me & play some. I will take you to the lake & take you for a walk. I am great off lead, great running with a leash, good when fast walking, but I still pull a little when walking slowly-But I'am learning. OVERALL I, Max am a great boy & very smart. Please contact my foster parents if you may know someone who would like to learn more about me or if maybe you are interested in living with me, it will be the best decision of their lives & hopefully mine, as my heart does not need to be broken again.

Hi, It's me, Max ! Just wanted to share my morning with you. I woke up about 7:30 & began grooming my self-Quiet Loudly-Foster Mom said, "Sush" to me, but she did wake up, stretch a few times & also started her day with me as her best buddy & we went out for a potty break. They save any excited morning love until after my bladder is empty just because some guy named Cesar Milan recommends that. We came back in for breakfast & they put a scrambled egg in my dry food, it was soo good, they said it would make my hair pretty. I was way too interested in what they had to eat for breakfast & my foster Mom made me, "Go Lie Down" on MY family room rug where my bone is & I was happy cause I could see them & chew my bone. You know a BIG bone, cooled after cooking (microwaving) is good for my teeth & gums, anything to prevent gum disease & tooth decay, PLUS it keeps me entertained. When I get frustrated because they won't share their breakfast with me or if I do not want to follow a command sometimes I will lick, scratch, pace or go in a circle or two just to tell them that it is not always fair for them to be the boss of me. At those times I know they really care because they sense my frustration & always give my my KONG with some liver paste inside or a Large Bone, How very sweet - It's as though they understand. After they ate, we went out to play a favorite game of mine, Fetch the "Stick". Foster Dad throws it real far,it lands in the leaves & I put my nose to the ground & zig-zag until I find it- Even hid in those leaves down the hill in the woods, YEP, I, Max can find the "Stick". I want to do it again so very much that I have learned to return the stick(or ball) & sit politely. He says, "let me have it" & she says "leave it'- kinda confusing to alot of dogs but I understand both & give it to them. After an hour or so we have come back in to share with "yous" guys. As you can see my vocabulary is really improving even without Mr. Webster. We are going down for a walk & maybe a swim, if I am lucky. Will bark to you later. Speaking of bark. just wanted you all to know That I maintain the good reputation of not being a barker, I bark once to alert a strange noise, that's all. Aren't I a good boy. Soon, Love, Max & Foster Family

Someone will be so fortunate to have Max in their life. he is so much like my Labradoodle. You have really been doing so much work with your foster dog. I especially liked that you have have him on a rug , or I call it in "Place" (a mat) while you are eating, or in the kitchen....great training...this also works great for company, especially when there is food being served. This might just be the foster dog I would have to keep, good thing I live up in New England!
