Part 8 of My name is Marco and This is My Story.......

The first time we met Marco on his adoption day his foster mom told us that the entire time he had been with her, he always slept with his head hidden under the bed. Sure enough he has been doing the same thing with us since he joined our family. It's actually pretty funny to see because his long body is all stretched out with only his head hidden. I'm certainly not an expert but I've always thought he just felt safer that way. We have also noticed that during the day when he wants to nap he likes to squeeze into a tight little area between our couch and chair and lays his head on the bottom shelf of our end table. I placed a bed there for him and he loves his little nest.

He's also a boy who likes to sleep in. I get up at 4:30 a.m. work days to get ready for work and he never, ever flinches or gets up to greet me before I leave at 5:30. He also loves to sleep in on Saturdays when I generally sleep in until 9 or so. So, just try to imagine our shock when we were awakened at about 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning when he jumped up in bed between the two of us all happy and tail wagging......Rob made him get down and that lasted about 1 minute then he was right back up in bed. Rob again made him get down again.....then Rob got up and went downstairs for coffee since he was now wide awake.

I fell back asleep and when my alarm went off at 7:30 I found Marco stretched out beside me sound asleep (no hidden head this time) and our two cats Max and Lilly asleep at the foot of the bed....it was such a fabulous way to begin the week.

Awh, Ginger used to do that with sleeping with her head hidden. She doesn't do it as much, but will lay her head on the legs of my stool by my computer whenever I am on it. I suppose it helps them feel safe.

Ouch, I feel for you Susan. The only reason I survive my long days during the work week is because I know I have the weekend to rejuvinate.

How cute! You are lucky he sleeps in! I get up at 5:00am and Marlow has a bad habit of waking me up at 4:45! And on weekends, too. He doesn't understand sleeping in. :)
