Is this a case of the grass being greener or what?  Anyone in Atlanta GA able to get the standard poodle and bring her to me in IL?  ok kidding but I sure do love her!

Hope you southeasters are adopting all those beautiful doodles! :-)

There are no laws on spay/neuter in this country, Kris. Many folks in the Southeast do not proscribe to vetting like we do up North. Many dogs run free, unneutered and produce litter after litter. You should check out Last Chance Highway on Animal Planet on Sat nights. You just missed it, here.

There are transports that will bring the dogs up the the North, you just have to find someone to be able to put the dog on the transport truck or plane from that end. If you go through a rescue they may work with you on that. It's a little more phone-leg work, but it is possible.

I have one little doodle coming up next week on transport for SC, it's just a matter of working with rescues who can get it done.
Someone else mentioned that show! I dont watch TV normally but once in awhile I have hubby DVR something someone talks about so I will have him do that.
Also the unemployment rate is so high that so many people are turning their dogs over when they are losing their homes. It is sad! Unemployment in my county in FL is 17.5%.
I remember thinking this too when I was looking for a doodle to rescue - why were there so many available in the south and so few up north? At that time, trying to find a doodle in rescue in Ontario was impossible. Honestly, a post would come up, and by the time you could dial the phone number or finish the email, the doodle was adopted. Today though it seems there are more even here in Ontario - with the tough economy, etc.
You know, we just had a discussion at work the other day about how hard Florida was getting hit. What's worse, is someone mentioned recently reading a story that said Florida hasn't hit rock bottom yet. Yikes!
Also, why are all the dogs in the shelters male? Are males just more rambuctious and prone to escaping? Which would mean Females are more calm?

Im slowly creating the perfect dog in my head.. medium size (small large) female, doodle, extremely good natured 2 year old or roughly 5monthish puppy, call me shallow but I want the blond/creme colored scragly looking type. Oh and of course hyperallergenic non shedding dog.. ok that part was a joke.. i know i know that isnt something that truely exists! lol just teasing about the perfect dog for us is also the perfect dog for just about everyone! lol

My bday is in September.. wonder if its possible to have a furry fuzzy bday present for me.. oh wait.. suppose to be for the boys.. but you know its me that will be lovin on it!! :-)
Watch what you wish for! Your perfect dog just might be a year old, black and male. You never know. Leave your heart open.
It is OK to envision the perfect doodle, I think we all have a colour, coat type, size, etc. in mind while we are searching for a dog. The problem is that no matter how much we think we choose the dog, the dog chooses you. When you see the one that steals your heart, all the "criteria" will be forgotten.

I have always heard though that males are more "loving" than females. In fact, most of the people I work with have male dogs and swear by them.
