I found exactly what we have been looking for in Arkansas..  but we are in IL!  lol   I am emailing the application anyways.  It is the puppy by the name of Sheridan.  She has a brother they are treating right now.. looks like he got into some rat poison..  bad stuff.  :-(

I just looked up Amtrak schedules but didnt know that they dont allow pets.  So guess if this one works out I will be driving about 12 hours to pick up this pretty girl.  Im not holding out much hope though since she is so far away and Im sure there are a million people right there that would like her.

So anyone else searching for a new pup and sending out apps?  We have only done one other time and they had so many ahead of us that we didnt have a chance in you know where!  But we got our proverbial "feet wet!"

I guess I never realised that I really am from the "want it now" generation because this waiting and searching is awful!  lol

Great news Krista! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I remember applying for dogs that were 12 hours plus away. Hubby and I just took the approach that it would be a mini-vacation, a reason to go somewhere we normally wouldn't think of, get to see new sights, and bring a new family member home at the same time. Yes, the applying and waiting is rough (I was never one to like waiting once my mind was made up). If it isn't Sheridan, don't worry, that just means your dog is still out there waiting for you.
Krista, your furry friend is out there and we will all keep our fingers and paws crossed that Sheridan is the one. I always tell people to send in lots of apps to lots of places. That way, the time is cut out waiting to be approved. Once you are approved, most rescues and shelters will go through their approved apps, even before listing the dog. But I would still send a reminder, if you see another dog in the same rescue. You never know, if it is right...it will happen. As my mom would say...good things come to those who are patient.
Krista, I did the same thing and ended up finding my dog in the same area that I was! You will find the dog for you if you are patient! It took me several months to find Marlow, but he was a perfect for for us. Good luck and I hope Sheridan works out!
Thanks all for the crossed paws! :-)

Susan - Marlow is exactly what we hope to find.. Such a beautiful dog!

Sue - that is exactly what my hubby and I said.. we cant really spare our vacation days to take a real trip and with 2yr old twins.. um NO!!! Not even on my radar of things I want to do! lol But a 2 day road trip would be fun and new adventure!

No word from them today though... :-(
Cathy, They are both beautiful. Congratulations and Thanks for the great advice.
You can put the transport info in the Regional Groups. I have a Transportation Folder in there if people need the resource. Thank You again for your commitment to rescue.
They are cuties! Looks like they are good buddies.. everyone needs a buddy! :-)
