This time of year, we gather with
Family and Friends.

As we approach the end of the year
and begin a new one.
We think about where we have
been and where we are going.

We remember those who are no
longer with us and the changes
in our lives.
We celebrate new friends and
think
about the future.

Join us over the holidays as we
share memories, have
some fun and
strengthen our "Collective"
of friends.

What are your favorite

When I was a little girl, my parents used to decorate a natural Christmas tree, only after I was in bed on Christmas Eve. Imagine when they woke me up for the "Réveillon" (a big meal at midnight with family) and I was allowed to go into the living room (we were only allowed to go there in very rare occasion) to admire the beautiful tree lighted with hundreds of little candles!
Of course, those candles were lit just for precious moments. My dad was blowing them out before we were even leaving the room.

It was magical! I remember the presents under the tree and the little manger with all the little personages and the little wax baby Jesus dressed with a the robe my mother sewed for him. I do remember all that but the most beautiful moment was looking at that big magnificent tree with all those little lights dancing in the dark room.
There are two times of the year that are my most favourite: Thanksgiving and Xmas. Why? Because I find that during these times people laugh more, relax, enjoy each other's company, are kinder to one another, and share. It's like the complicated world is gone and the basics are embraced.

For this year, I am thankful for so many things: mostly my family, my three girls - Georgia, Sammie, and Abbey, and my new friends here on RRC. It is so nice to be able to talk and share with others who all share an interest in helping oodles, and just dogs, in need in a virtual world where no one is judged or has to be afraid to ask or post.

RRC has worked so hard this year. Overcome some serious obstacles and challenges...some of which have not completely "gone away" yet. But, as time passed, RRC gained new members, and helped quite a few oodles find new homes...mainly thanks to Lynne and Elizabeth, but also several others who lent a hand, an ear, or shared knowledge. For the new year, I'm hoping to see RRC grow, welcome new members with new ideas, and old "ghosts" disappear.

Well, this is what I could think of for now. I am sure there is lots more to share. I'd love to hear from others.
What a wonderful memory, J. It's funny how we remember the little things from our childhood.
Beautiful, Sue. But we could not have done it without you. Your support and belief in me meant so much that I can never repay you. I love this time of year, too. Sigh!
