Don't tell anyone....we have crabs at our house!

Florida Blue land crabs that is! They are driving the dogs insane! They crawl past the french doors on the edge of the cement and both Marlow and Sloan go bananas barking at them! We did not have them last year, so it was really odd that they have appeared this year.

Marlow wants to know what the heck this is............

Joan, Finn has sepearation anxiety because he is boarded so much with his owner's new job. Poor thing will probably settle down in a stable situation. I have not met him or his owner, but if it was me, I would take a chance on him. Just the way I am..a sucker for these dogs! I took a leap and had Sloan transported from W.VA with out meeting her and it worked out fine! I will let you know when I see another nice doodle in our area! Venice sounds lovely! I will have to come over to explore one day! We drive to Jupiter and West Palm Beach, but it is an hour and a half to get there. The Jupiter beach is dog friendly and the last saturday of every month there is a doodle romp. I used to go to doodle romps in Scottsdale, too...that is why the tons of pics on my page :)

We are in the Venice/Sarasota/Gulf Coast area---about an hour north of Naples/Marco. We live in Venice and are about 4 miles from the beach and the Intercoastal to boat on and about 3 miles from the dog beach and 1 1/2 miles from the dog park & 20 mins from Siesta Key which is a vacation in itself.  Venice is quiet, but so close to everything that there isn't enough time in the week to do it all and we like the idea of being close to things but not right in the middle of it all....esp in season We retired here 7 years ago and love it. Bugs?---not an abundance here. We really love the Gulf side. My husband plays golf---there are tons of courses as I'm sure you know, so he keeps busy that way; he leaves the pet things up to me but loves every one I have brought home over the years and has such patience when I have tended to overdo (like the time back in St Louis where we moved here from when I had 7 horses in a 5 stall barn in the middle of winter)....we laugh about it now! If you ever have the urge to visit this area I'd/we'd love to show you around. If you find another Marlow let me know! I'd be interested in knowing more about Finn's quirks---I'll have to look further into him.

I did see both of these dog on the site---one sheds & is young and my concern with Finn is that he has separation anxiety which concerns me in a few ways.  I know I won't find "perfect but hope to find enough to click. Have you met Finn and his family?  I loved looking at your photos---so many Doodles!

Ha, Marlow is my big baby! He doesn't like the water either...lol. But I just love his size...he has really turned into a beautiful doodle. Sounds like you live in a wonderful area! Vero Beach is not dog friendly...no dogs on the beach unless we sneak them on. The one puppy that is a rehome is 4 months old and will be a shedder..she looks very labby with longer hair on her body, still cute and a golden color. The other is a darker chocolate latte color labradoodle, but just adorable. 3 years old. I'll send you links! I picked doodles for less shedding too! My dalmatian was the queen of hair....it was everywhere! Marlow sheds a bit of small puffs of hair (not bad at all), and Sloan not at all. I like Marlow's fur better than Sloan's, she has tight poodle curls and it isn't as soft as Marlow's. She is a doll, though! Perky, energetic....funny...we are going to get her a tee shirt we saw in the pet store that says "can't control my licker!". Be sure and put in an application with iDog...they get great doodles, also. Most of all, be patient! Your dog will find you!

I just saw that you are from Vero---our good friends live there---they own Vero Glass & Mirror company; we visit at least twice yearly. I don't remember the name of it but there's a restaurant out over the water that we go to whenever we visit them.

Thx Susan---can you send me the link to the 2 in FL--- East Coast isn't a problem. I saw the ones posted on here; and saw some out of state too but they seem often to say they don't adopt out of the area; being new at this I am just now trying to figure out the logistics and channels to take so any advice would be appreciated. We are looking for medium to large and light in color (of course I have to add that when we would get our Labs we never chose what we went looking for---they chose us and were always opposite color and opposite sex of out intent!)---after having Labs we would LOVE one that doesn't shed as much as they did (and oh my the DROOL!!); we have said no shedding would be wonderful. We love the temperment of Labs and our dear friend had Standard Poodles and we loved them too so this seemed like a good avenue to take. We've nurtured all the ailments and hips of our boys and cared for the phobias of our last Lab (afraid of everything especially any storms) and would love an easy going dog with no phobias for a change;  training one is not a problem as we have had many; one 2-5 years old would work too; it would be nice not to have to do puppyhood now in our retired life. We do not have a fence, but have a screened in large lanai and a dog park and dog beach nearby not to mention that we go for tons of walks so exercise is never a problem with any of our dogs. We have a cat---she has been raised with many dogs and they all "respect" her..the ones that didn't when they arrived learned to very quickly; if they only knew she had no front claws!! The more I think of it..........Marlow would fit perfectly!!!  ~~~ j/k

Welcome to our crazy part on our family Joan. I don't have any problem with crabs here, I'm in Ontario Canada but with do have other critters we can share. Trust Susan to find you a perfect doodle. She got lots of experience in that, just look at her little video and you'll see her two babies she rescue.  Good luck in your research of your new companion!

Joan, welcome to our silly party! There are two doodles in Fl now that need rehoming, really cute ones!.....east coast but that isn't too far! I was in Naples on Wednsday and loved it. (Went with a friend who wants a seasonal rental.) The crabs have slowed down now...only see one every few days, thank goodness!

What kind of doodle are you looking for? Age or color preferences?Let me know and when I am posting I will keep you in mind! :)

We can get a little silly sometimes, Joan. This site is a relay labor of love and although all of us who work on it have never met in person, we are a family. Feel free to join in our discussions. Did you see Susan's Video yet? http://www.doodlerescuecollective.com/profiles/blogs/sloan-aka-flas...

Get your tissues ready. I was crying it's so funny.
