My goldendoodle did fine on the changed formula of Canidea, It just depends on the dog, I put him another food only because he has ear infections so I decided to try other foods. I don't see any problem mixing a little to see how they do on it, you will know after few days if they are handling it well.

Canidae remains a good choice of kibble, in my opinion. Any time a dog's food is changed, there can be digestive issues. I know Adina uses Canidae, and her dogs were fine with the change. To transition from any food to another, you need to add a little of the new food into the old food, and then increase the amount of the new while decreasing the old over about a week's time. But if you are just doing it temporarily to take advantage of the coupon offer, it's not the best idea, unless you continue to use it on some basis. Many of us switch between different brands periodically; it helps provide variety for the doodles' diets and also gives you some options if one food becomes unavailable, has a recall, or changes formulas.
I like Canidae because they are one of only two premium brands that I know of that do not sell their products in stores which also sell pets. In other words, they are taking a stand against puppy mills.

I love Canidae dog food. My 2 older dogs have been on it for 5 years. Emmy my 9 month old Goldendoodle, has been on it since, I brought her home. I changed because the formula changed,price went up and it went down to a smaller size bag. I had to find something a bit cheaper, but yet a good food. Costco was built not too far from us, so I decided to use Kirkland Chicken and Vegetables. It was less expensive,bigger bag (40# bag verses Canidae 35# bag) and I have heard good things about it.

I would be using Canidae just temporarily because of the free 40# coupon offer. I would then go back on Kirkland 100 %. Boy, what a hard decision to make!!

Where can the rest of us get these coupons? :-) We already feed Canidae so a free bag would be nice.

As Karen said, I think the issues some dogs had with the new formula were simply the same issues dogs have when changing any food brands / formulas. The ingredients remain top notch... we still like our Canidae. :-)

Canidae has a program where you buy 12 bags and get the 13th free. My store used to honor this program, but for some reason they quit it. They would give out a green envelope and you would save 12 UPC codes from Canidae dog food. When all UPC codes were collected, I would then, take it back into my store and they would give me a free bag and give me another green envelope. I would ask the store, where you buy your food at. If they don't do the program, I would call Canidae directly and ask them about getting involved in the program. Hope this helps!
