Sweet Potato Dog Treat Chews

Ingredients:

1 Large Sweet Potato, washed & dried

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 250° F

2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

3.Cut off one side of the sweet potato lengthwise, as close to the edge as possible.

Cutting the side of the potato first allows you to then turn the potato onto this flat

surface that you have just created. Having a stable area to rest the potato will

make it easier to cut the potato into slices. Don't discard that first piece, it comes

out just as yummy as the rest!

4.Cut the rest of the potato into 1/3" slices, no smaller than 1/4".

5.Place them on the prepared baking sheet.

6.Bake for 3 hours, turning half way through.

Ooh, this does sound good. I have also been buying Sweet Potato Fries that I bake in the oven till a little crispy. The dogs love them and so do I. Thanks, Susan.

That is a good idea....I love sweet potato fries and it would save on the slicing! My dogs love the sweet potato fries, too, since they always get a few! We buy the big bag at Sam's, but I think there is nothing fresher than a raw sweet potato baked in your own oven. The prices for the sweet potato treats in the stores are skyrocketing and this is healthier too, I am sure!

I am sure they are cheaper and healthier. You could sprinkle a bit of garlic powder on them too. Keeps mosquitoes off. I am the only one in my house who likes SP's, so I don't buy them often but will certainly try your idea.

Look good!! We, the humans, love them too so I guess I'll be making a big batches so we can all enjoy it! Thanks Susan!

There's drooling going on here---and it's not the dog!

The dogs may not get any here...lol!

I would think the opposite... They maybe will share one or two with us... if I don't tell them this is a treat Auntie Susan is doing for Marlow and Sloan...
