My beloved Aunt Skip, passed away here with me and her son and dil and Hospice approximately  two and a half weeks ago.  Skip was 96 and had lived with me for 14 years; increasingly disabled with dementia as years went by.  As we learn dog language, I had come to learn Skip's dementia language and am still having trouble facing the world which speaks in full sentences and with full and understanding meaning.

Skip's passing was made more difficult not only because I loved her, but because my Doodle, Trac, 16, had become her therapy dog and he has had a terrible time with this permanent absence.  He only left her side when she came home  to potty.  And, he alerted the Hospice team with us that she was transitioning to the next world.  A totally awesome moment for all of us gathered and the most unearthly sound from him after she drew her last breath with his muzzle on the bed near her head.

Slowly I am adjusting to life without Skip, but it has been difficult at best.  And next will come Trac who is nearing the time for the Bridge.  As I said somewhere, Trac has been the most honest man in my life for many years!!!  An awesome Goldendoodle senior.

Yesterday arrived a basket of Mrs. Fields cookies  and beautiful note from Lynne on behalf of so many of you here.  The UPS man told me he was glad to get the box off the truck; he was hungry and the smell was driving him crazy!!! :)   Words cannot be found to tell you how meaningful the thought and the cookies.

I've not been on the site since Skip fell and broke her hip, had surgery, went for 12 days to a rehab facility, and apparently tried to walk to the bathroom on her own when left unattended and fell in the bathroom there, breaking the other hip, surgery again, and a new rehab hospital where she developed a 'failure to thrive' and we wanted her home with Hospice.  Slowly I'm getting back into the swing of life.  And, I just signed in to assist in rescue here, while it is difficult with four Doods, I can certainly help with phone calls or home visits or anything that requires something that I can do to help.  I have met the community limit on dogs  here tho. I am currently awaiting a mommy cat and 4 kittens who will live in the garage  (warm and clean) until the small rescue group can find a home for the babies.  One needs bottle feeding, that I can handle having raised litters of abandoned fairly new born kittens for this group in my murky rescue past!  Once a rescuer always a rescuer.

So, it's good to be back and I'm looking forward to joining in on the work and fun and talk here.  Thanks Oodley's for thinking and remembering me.  You guys are a treasure.  Judy

Thank you, sometimes it is difficult to move into the sunlight from such a sad place,  I'm getting there every day, one foot in front of the other.  You are so kind to think of me.   Judy
