Really, the lighting must be causing the look of brown highlights because she is actually jet black with a few white hairs around her neck where her collar is, but so few, I could count them all. She also has a few white hairs along her spine. As for parental coloring, Zoe's mom was a brown lab and her dad was an apricot colored poodle...it's all genetics. Just like kids, my mom and dad both have brown eyes but my sisters are green and mine are blue...but my grandparents had green and blue eyes on one side of my family. Zoe had blonde, black and brown siblings in her litter and their hair ranged from wavy like Zoe's to bone straight like her mom's and very curly like her dad's. Doodles are truely a mixed bag.
Hey Donna, your doodle looks just like my doodle...take a look at some of the pics on my page...they could easily be litter mates. You don't see nearly as many black doodles as you see blondes.
