Wow---three! I can only imagine! Quincey is learning to play in our pool; a week ago he wouldonly step on the top step--now he leaps off the step half way across to fetch the ball---of course sometimes he leaps to fetch my husband; Paul says it's frightening when he sees a flying dog with paws out in fron and mouth wide open to get to him....that's when Paul scrambles to get a ball and stuff it in Quincey's mouth! He is fun everyday. Fortunately after he is done swimming he sleeps so very well---ahh peace and quiet.
One thing he does is lunge at thing---mostly bugs, lizards, anything that moves----and this is when he's on the leash going for a walk. Yesterday he yanked so hard at a lizard that he popped my top rib out as my arm yanked forward; thank heaven for the chiropractor who put it back in but we really have to get a h old on this lunging; We bought a Gentle Lead that goes over the snout and around the back of the ears and have to try that. Obedience stards in less than 3 weeks but in the meantime we want to work with him. Any hints about this?
Turning our backs works about 50% of the time--- he's 7 months old and only been here for 2 weeks so we are enduring and trusting the "turn your back" advice we got. What a different breed to be working with---we have always had Labs......the poodle in this one certainly makes life interesting! I'm trusting that by this time next year we will look back and laugh at how much training we had to do---come to think of it we are laughing about it right now! How old are your dogs; it seems you just adopted them?
Ed, I just looked at all the photos of Chloe and Howie. They are both gorgeous. Doodles are fantastic dogs - so smart, loving, and also sometimes little buggers...LOL. My girls are my life. It's so wonderful you and Jo opened your home to Chloe and Howie. You just see in their faces how happy they are.
Welcome to the RRC, Ed! Glad to have you here. I think you’ll find this place to be a friendly community of dog lovers who enjoy sharing stories, information, and knowledge. Feel free to jump into a discussion or even start your own discussion. We would love to hear from you!
Welcome, Ed. I am glad you are here. You will not find any of the drama here that you have experienced in the past. You and Jo, are very welcome. Chloe and Howie are beautiful. Congratulations and all the best to your family.
