Thank you Lynne...I am finally finished with the pies. We have raised enough to fix Francois' knee if he needs that...I am still hoping he has a mild knee and the funds can go towards our legal fees. Phew, who knew pies are so popular!

He has an E collar which no dog likes but he is not fighting it, just running into a few walls with it and I generally sit on the floor and hold the food bowl up close, inside the collar, so he can eat. He doesn't seem to be in pain and is tolerating all this very well. We go back next week for vet to see him again. The vet gave us a very nice discount, and he also did a dental on him for $45. Can you believe it!!! His pre surgery lab work was just perfect, so good that everyone had to look to believe their eyes! At age 14, they expected a readings out of range. But nope, none. That was good news! He drinks a lot and I was afraid we might find diabetes. No one believes he is 14 yo but I have the original vet records. Some think he is an older puppy (!!!) and others just think 4 or 5 or so. He's a lucky good dog and a much loved one. And to think, that his "daddy" was taking him and 2 other dogs to the shelter for PTS when a friend of mine stopped them and rescued them. What a lucky dog.

Thank you for asking. This is a very difficult time for me, not because of George, but because of all the other stuff going on in my life right now. George's needle aspiration of what we believed to be a fatty tumor by his front leg was just that, a lipoma. Thursday he had the malignant lump removed from his foot and surrounding area, but the foot is pretty much intact. It has been sent out for biopsy. It is likely to return, based on previous experience the vet says. at one pont it may mean an amputation but not today.

Thank you. It is so bittersweet. I'll know in a few days how bad it is, but the pain meds he is getting now have certainly make him a happy dog! I have applied, or tried to apply, for financial aid from the usual sources, and all have said they are out of money right now, trying to rebuild their resources. That is sad. He will get his surgery, it just might take me forever to pay for it!

I think somehow we'll get the fee for the poodle for Yvonne. Some ladies in SC are willing to help out too.
Right now, I'm more worried about the recently discovered cancer tumor found on my cocker/retriever's foot. Thought it was an infected pad, but NO! It was a tumor that has pushed up and out between 2 pads on George's left foot! Not the time for me to be having extra expenses like that! Until the surgery this week, don't know if it has spread

I feel better already! spent all day yesterday at a pet adoptin fair sponsored by Mars Petcare - didn't find what we were looking for, but now I've found it on Petfinder, but I'm afraid he's gone! The dog is for a friend whose poodle was just PTS at 20 years old!!! Yes! 20 yo!!! Some county shelters will adopt out free to senior citizens if dog is over a year old. This one we found is not one of those but oh so cute! My unemp comp is not enough to pay the adoption
