Lynn, While searching for Doodles at our local Humane society today , of all things,I rescued another little Yorkie. I made a visit and let me tell you I was not pleased at all at what I saw. The dogs are not clean and stepping in their own waste. The smell was bad. They were on preventitive meds for kennel cough, but the girl said the little Yorkie would not take hers so she threw the meds in the cage. There was two georgous , if you can look past the horrific condition, shit-zues in the cage with her. She weighs almost 5 pounds and should weigh close to 6-7. You can feel every rib. She could have come to them this way, but a Yorkie like her is timid and would not eat. The other two most likely ate her share. I could not sleep knowing she was still there , so I brought her home. How or where would I start to check on the facility and see why the conditions were as they are? A few years back when I helped adopt a dog there for my inlaws it was not this way. They had a several page questionaire, but today all I had to do was write a few answers to questions on one page , pay and took the dog. She is also not spayed yet . I do have a paper from them to do so. I called the vet to see if she would be any risk to mine. He said since they are up to date on shots, they should be ok. Her appointment is Monday. It was the only time to get her in. She did eat a little for me. We cleaned her up and she is just resting. My husband held her until she was warm and comfortable. Just checking to see what you can tell me. By the way , it is a no kill shelter, from what the girl told me. Kathy
Hi Lynn,
I had been looking for a rescue doodle for months. I happened to find a different rescue website and saw this sweet-looking dog that was listed as an airedale mix. With my limited doodle experience I thought she had a doodle look to her. The story that accompanied the photo said she had been caged for two years. She was in her second foster home in a month or so. I received a few other photos of her and I must say, I was love-struck. They really showed a sweet personality. She had to be sweet because I also have a four-pound chihuahua with an attitude. A friend went with me for the meeting which was a mid-point. (She was about six hours away). The meeting went fine but I could tell Molly was so nervous and unsure about what was happening. I researched how to introduce a new dog and was VERY cautious for the first month. Things couldn't have gone better. While my chihuahua is not at all happy about relinquishing her star position, they're really doing fine together. This month we're beginning an obedience class and I'm really looking forward to it. I've learned more than I ever wanted to know about lice, but two months in, Molly is settled, clean (lucky for me she likes baths), combed (it took a few weeks to thoroughly get through all her hair--we took it in stages)and free of all nasty buggies.
I think I'll add a not-so-clean photo. I'm using it for a St. Patrick's Day greeting. I had just mowed.
Oh yeah! Intergroom in April. I go every year. I wouldn't miss it for the world. I get to see my friends from all over the country and stock up on the latest and greatest grooming supplies.... and the seminars and competitions are GREAT!

There are a TON of vendors selling stuff. If there's anything you want me to pick up for you, just let me know, OK?
Well, I struck out on a dog today! The one from craigslist had a family there to see him when I got there and they took him. He was such a good natured young dog! He was a creme colored standard goldendoodle. Then it was on to to the shelter and both dogs listed here had been adopted. There were a lot of people there which was good to see!
Lynne I think the same way. Not all dogs are lucky to wind up in good homes. I am here to help those that don't. I will do anything I need to get them ready for a new home where they can get the love they so crave.
I hope that you will continue to check out Gene's forum. Everyone there (breeders included) is very supportive of those that rescue and are willing to help with advice, support, or whatever you may need.
Thanks Lynne! You a sweetheart! I did email them both and say almost exactly what you said. One of them wrote back and said she would only let the dog go by doing a homecheck first, which is good! I haven't heard from the other one yet. All we can do is spread the word. The one I am looking at today off of craigslist is a family with financial problems being forced to move to an apartment and can't take the dog. It's a beautiful 10 month old goldendoodle they bought from a breeder. I hope he is still there by the time I get there today. They were asking a re-homing fee , so that deterred some people!
Lynn, has there been a decision about doodles on craigslist? There are two in Las Vegas posted this week and I found one in Phoenix area that I am going to see tomorrow along with the two at the local shelter.
They seem to be popping up everywhere now. Should we just warn the owners about craigslist or refer them to iDog or elsewhere? Just concerned about the poor dogs losing there homes!
I just love all the dogs! I would take them all in. My husband said today that I need a farm for all the ones I want! I have a feeling that we will have at least one more to add to our family in the near future...lol. By the way...I love the title you have bestowed on me! West Coast reporting for duty!
Thanks for welcoming me back :) It has been a while and I am so sorry :( Things have been quite hectic between work, kids being sick, me being sick and Dylan's swimming schedule. I am definitely going to check things out :) The site looks GREAT!!!
