If you have volunteered to Foster, Adopt, make phone calls, check references or Transport for our Doodle Train, please go to the following link to copy, fill out and return the application. Thank you! We are all volunteers and work together to improve the lives of Rescue Doodles.
The one from the breeder, did they contact the breeder? Many breeders have in their contracts that they are to be called if the adopters want to rehome the dog. They can also still contact IDog or us and we can try to find a home also. The one who wants to do homechecks is on the better track but can also still contact IDog or us for help.
On another note, we are trying to put together a group of folks from around the country who would be interested in helping us monitor Petfinder and other sites in their areas, call shelters and contact us when a dog is in danger. If this is something you might be interested in, please send me a private message letting me know that you're interested.
It would take about 1/2 to 1 hour or so every day or every other day. Most time would be online, some calling shelters.
Do you have a Long Distance Phone Plan?
Can you stay calm on phone with shelter (sometimes nasty) people?
Are you fairly competent on the computer?
That's about it as far as requirements, patience is #1.
Think about it, and let me know: lynne_fowler@yahoo.com
I don't know if you might be interested in this, if so, let me know. As The DRRC West Coast Representative, of course. LOL
I know, it's really getting bad. What Jac has done is to contact the people and tell them the truth about what or rather who answers those kinds of ads. There have been several stories about killers of animals, people looking to use dogs for bait in dogfights and medical testing brokers who scour those sites. She asks them to contact IDOG or at least ask a fee and check out the people. If you want to call and "scare" them, I think that's all we can really do. That could be one of your DRRC Rep Jobs, LOL If you have trouble or can't let Jac or myself know and we'll call. We cannot save them all, but we can save some and educate people as much as we can. Love you, girl. You have a big heart. Welcome to our world!
Hey, you are doing all this work, you might as well get credit for it. I don't know if you've noticed the DRRC-Northeast Group, but we are putting together a Foster and Adoption Program of our own. We figured we'd start in the Northeast because that's where Jac and I are, but if things go well, we will branch out. We already have a couple of rescues lined up, working on applications this weekend and fingers crossed...may be ready to ask for foster home folks very soon. You will need your own group pretty soon if you keep volunteering like this.LOL
You better keep us posted on your adventure this weekend, Susan. We are all pulling for you.
Thanks, too for all your posting and commenting. It has really helped me do other things to get this site running. I really appreciate how active you have been, here. Like I said, YOU are our AZ-CA Representative of The DRRC. Put that on your bi-line!!! Hugs & Kisses, girl.
Thanks, Susan! We are still tweeking things here and there and learning about all this. We hope this Forum really has enough room to "spread it's wings," now. We are glad you're here. Watch for exciting things to come!
