Are you still thinking about another Dood?
Guess who's coming to MY house? Elmo

We think, under all that fuzziness is a Mini-Doodle.

Here's his stats:

Elmo is between 2-3 years young and weighs about 15 lbs. but is under-weight right now. Elmo is a very friendly and loving boy. He loves to go for walks and spend time with his human. His new family will have to make sure he sees the groomer on a regular basis to keep him looking handsome and healthy. We wil have better pictures of him soon.

Elmo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.
He will be available for adoption after August 29.

If you are interested, please find an application HERE. Return it to rescuecollective@gmail.com.

I don't know of any trainers, personally. Adrianne uses someone in North Jersey, write to her and ask if they come down this way or can recommend someone. You can call around and interview them that their method centers on love and respect and positive reinforcement. Many are too forceful for a rescued dog. Ask if they come to the house and work with the family on the dogs turf. There is a group in Red Bank, but I don't know anything about them. Many use negative reinforcement. Petco and Petsmart offer some training. You can ask your groomer, too. Read Tamar Gellars, The Loved Dog, it might provide insight. Ask questions here in the forum, we have many experienced folks here. Those are the only things I can think of this early in the AM.

I am so happy that L is settling into the family and is a happy girl. Keep us posted on her progress. Hugs to all of you.

Awh, Tracy, I am so glad all is going well for all involved. Many of the behavior issues will disappear with patience and time. Be consistent and she will get it eventually.Having a yard where she can expend her energy will help a lot. I got the impression that she didn't get to do much of that in her previous home. Tell your son that his job is to run around with her and teach her to chase, catch and return a ball. It will wear them both out and the exercise will benefit both, too. Plus, it will allow him to feel involved. A kong stuffed with something yummy or a marrow bone from the butcher, will also keep her occupied. She is beautiful and you all make a beautiful family.

Awh, Tracy, I love hearing all the stories about how happy our dogs are. And how happy the families are with our dogs. Please, please, please keep a tight watch on her until she is fully bonded to you guys. Talk to the kids about how important it is and what could happen if she gets out. I love the pictures of her and the kids. They look like they really love her. I can't wait to see more pictures. She was beautiful before her grooming.

It depends on how the dogs come in. Sometimes it's "raining doodles" around here. Then there will be none for a period. It runs hot and cold.

BTW, I am in Middletown, so we are neighbors. Let me know if I can help.

I went over your application today and we will keep it on file in case something comes up. You wouldn't be interested in fostering by any chance, would you? If you would be, send me a message, just click on my icon pic or name to come to my page.

Tracy, you need to join Adoptable Doodles and "follow" in your region and you will get an email whenever the listings are updated. Under the Adoptable Doodles Tab, go down to Adoptable Doodles US. Find your region.

My suggestion is to fill out applications all over the place as many rescues and shelters will go through their approved apps even before they post on Petfinder.

Good Luck in your search and stop in often.
