Is there anyone in the Washington, DC area that would keep my son's Goldendoodle (Ginger) for approx. 4-5 weeks. He has been unemployed for nearly a year and must have hip replacement. He is coming to Seattle, WA to have this surgery (to stay with his parents to recoup) and has no one to keep her nor can he afford to board her for that period of time. He does not want to give her up as she is his constant companion, he just needs help during this time. I so hope someone out there can help him. Thank you.

Lana, I am so glad one of our members has been able to help. Tell your son that we are thinking of him and sending healing thoughts for a safe recovery. Happy Holidays.

What a wonderful thing you have done, LA. I bet Coda is in heaven. She does like having other doggies around. She followed my pack all around. This is a great opportunity for you to get your first foster under your belt. It gets easier, the more you do. Happy Holidays!

Just to update, I've taken in Ginger, Lana's son's doodle, while her son has his surgery and recuperates. She's so sweet, and it gives me an opportunity to see what multiple doodles feel like. She's been here a week and we just love her. Coda, my eight month old labradoodle that I rescued a few months ago, adores her. It also gives me more confidence about being able to foster another doodle. I'm so glad that Lana posted her request here on the DRC site because it gave me this opportunity to help a doodle in need.

Lana,
Do you still need help with this? I'm just now reading your post and I'd be willing to help out. I live in the D.C. area and I currently have an 8-month puppy (female, rescue, very sweet) so as long as your son's doodle can share, we'd be happy to help. Feel free to contact me through the DRC or directly at labrickner@gmail.com.

There are agencies that deal with issues like this but off the top of my head I cannot think of the names. I will research and get back to you. I would continue to look for a trusted friend to do this.

I realize it's a huge request....just don't know what else to do. We have 2 cats and keeping the dog is not an option. He is divorced and his wife refuses to help. The time frame is from about Dec. 15th to Jan. 10th....approximately. He is trying his friends but without much luck. Thanks for your help.

Lana, I am not sure when you are looking for someone to do this or how you would go about screening someone to watch Ginger. Five weeks is a long time. Is there no way for Ginger to go out there with your son? Or friends who might be able to do this. This is a tough call to ask a perfect stranger to take in a beloved dog and be 100% sure that it would all work out. I look forward to hearing from you to see if we can brainstorm an answer to this hard decision.
