Marco finally let my father-in-law (Papa) pet him on the head and then laid down beside his recliner. What a sweet, precious moment. I know that before too long they will be the best of friends. Papa has been concerned about how skinny Marco is and what a picky eater he is so he has been boiling venison and giving him the meat and broth. Although Papa is 91 he looks and feels like he's 70. He gardens, fishes, mows the lawn (riding mower) and cooks dinner during the week. That being said, Marco is a new mission for him to fatten up healthily.
To be so skinny Marco is a very picky eater and I have been on the hunt for a good, healthy dog food. I plan on making my own thanks to Karen's recipes soon. In the meantime I decided to try Pet Promise which is what the cats eat. Duh!!!!! I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner. I've been feeding it to my cats since the cat food scare last year that about killed one of my mom's cats. If my holistic health store sells it I feel pretty confident about it. He gobbled it the first time I fed him and hasn't slowed down since. :>)
The day after Marco let Papa pet him one of our neighbors came to visit. When he knocked on the door Marco started barking very loud and aggressively. It was the first time we had heard him bark and we were so very excited. He's starting to feel like this is "his home" and he's wanting to protect it.....
