One of Oodles of Doodles Newest Rescue girls will be on her way to NJ in another week. But we are already so excited, we just wanted to share.

This is Miss Mattie's shelter picture. When I first saw it, I immediately thought Oodle. She looked so small and scared, I wrote a rescue offer right away.

My friends at Paws, pulled her for us and this pretty lady will be on the June 4th transport, coming to rescue in NJ and will be looking for her Forever Family.

Her present foster mom, Gail says Mattie is about 4 months old and a very sweet, playful girl. She can be all rough and tumbley puppy one minute and a little love bug, the next. Mattie has now been spayed and vetted and is resting up before her big trip.

Here's another great pic of her. It's a little fuzzy, but you can really see how beautiful she is. We think she may be an Irish Doodle but we'll wait and see until she gets up here.

And don't forget the water. Mattie/Shea loved her kiddie pool here. I found her asleep in it once. After that, I only put a couple of inches of water in it.

Hi Laura, This is Gail, Mattie's foster in Virginia. If Mattie is having accidents and sleeping a lot, it is probably because she misses Daisy so much. She and Daisy were inseparable, both being older pups and partners in crime in the back yard. Mattie stayed inside at night, and Daisy would be sitting at the door eagerly waiting for Miss Mattie to come out the door to play every morning. Mattie hated it when I brought her inside at night away from Daisy, but being the good girl that she was, she always came inside, reluctantly a little, but always good naturedly. Anytime you want to add Daisy to your family, just let me know. Daisy is a boxer mix, sweetest thing in the world, and gentle to every dog and grandchild that I bring around her. Daisy is actually my foster mom assistant. She welcomes everyone with open paws. Give Mattie a big hug for me.  I miss her a lot.

Thank you so much Laura for letting us know how well she is doing. She is still a baby, get her outside every 15 minutes or so and praise, praise, praise when she does good. Tamar Geller calls that "throwing a party." Throw a party for each success and she will learn, quick. They want to please us and when they see you are pleased, it makes them want to do good again. Another trick is when she goes in the house, clean it with paper towels and carry her and the soiled paper towel out to where you want her to go and put her and it down and say, "go here." Leave the towel there for a few hours and take her to it every 15 minutes. She'll get the message. Keep us up to date and give Shea a big kiss from all of us.

Hey Lynne, we got Mattie- a.k.a. Shea- about a week ago! She is so great! So far, she has had a few accidents but we know she is still a baby, and still adjusting to our family. The children love her, and she is great with them, never snapping or scratching them! She sleeps about 22 hours out of the day (LOL), but she loves to play with her toys! My family is so grateful for Shea, and your rescue association, and we know we will have many great years ahead of us! Thanks!

Yes, Lynne, one of Mattie's most endearing traits was her acceptance of just about any situation.  Even in the beginning, I mentioned that Mattie was just the best girl in any situation. I do my best to keep a bit of structure and schedule, but you know sometimes how hard that is. However, even if I was an hour late, Mattie never complained. At night, all I had to do was call her inside, give her some love, and she would go straight to her crate, actually happily....and not like I was punishing her. Within 30 minutes, she would be kicked over on her back, all sprawled - (not ladylike at all, LOL) and sound asleep. Not once, did she wake me up during the night or complain to hurry to get her breakfast done, so she could get back outside to romp in the morning sun with her playmates in the back yard. I was constantly in awe of her acceptance and willingness to adapt at her young age. She doesn't even have her adult teeth yet and is still just a baby.
