This little family will be coming to NJ in the next few weeks and I wanted you to meet them now, as their Virginia foster mom has joined our "Collective" and I wanted a place for her to let us know how they are doing.

Meet Eddie

Meet Shirley, Eddie's Mom

We'll be updating as their transport date gets closer. But Gail can keep us posted until then.

One of the transport drivers reported that it was really loose, so while I was waiting at Petco for the transport to arrive, I went in and bought them each a new harness and they are too small. So now they have too big and too small, Kelly will have to get the "just right" one's this week. Both pups had no worries with my pack after a few minutes of sniffing. Eddie and Shea played all morning and both were tuckered out by the time I had to go meet Kelly. Eddie slept all the way there. Kelly was ooohing and aaahhing when she saw them. I don't think those two are going to have an trouble finding their perfect home. We'll keep you posted.

Oh, I meant to ask you to take a look at Eddie's harness.  I don't know if I was rushed or if that darn thing was defective, but it appeared to be upside down backwards on him. I gave up trying to get it on right.  Of course, Eddie was being less than cooperative by flipping around and rolling, thinking it was a game. You might try taking it off and starting all over again.

Oh, Lynne! How good of you to send this video! It was a happy start to my morning. I just wish that you had the time for them to get to know you a bit better so that you could see all the personality that these two are so full of. And I can definitely see why the "pack" wouldn't know what these two little foreign bodies were or exactly what to do with them. I can see little Eddie has come a long way.  Three weeks ago, he would have been hiding somewhere, afraid to come out and join. A little love and encouragement goes a long way. Thank you for everything. Tell their foster to keep me posted for a few days and to not hesitate to ask me any questions.

I just posted a video (above) of the Itty Bitties exploring the yard this morning. They are adorable.

They played with the pack, who were not quite sure what they were, then settled down around Midnight. They slept through the night and went out this morning and did their business. They have explored the yard and are now exploring the den and kitchen. I will be leaving around 8:30 to take them to their foster mom, Kelly. They are just so sweet and adorable. I am going to try to get some pictures before they go. Thank you so much for everything, Gail. They are so good. I can't believe Eddie is housetrained at just 4 months old. What sweeties, too. Get some well deserved rest, before the next foster comes. Sending Hugs and kisses from Eddie and Shirley.

Let me know how they fared through the night. God, I miss them so much. This house is just too quiet. I am used to constant activity provided by the said entertainers.

One other thing.  Eddie's one little ear stands straight up when he is really happy. Shirley twirls and spins constantly when she is excited or happy. And she likes to be called Twirley Shirley.

Keep a watch on Shirley's little eye. It appears irritated.  I took her to the Vet on Tuesday for it, but he said to just keep it clean and it would be okay. It didn't look any better on Thursday, so I went back to his office and got antibiotic eye meds for her.  I greased her eye up good before she left. I hope Shirley settles well with the "pack." She is a bit protective of Eddie and can get grouchy with other dogs. Eddie doesn't care.  He is a peacemaker and very humble. He just flattens out when he gets timid.  Poor little guy must have been abused before he was dumped at the Shelter.  He had gotten over being timid with me, but would revert back to that around strangers. He had begun running ahead of Shirley which was actually Progress! In the beginning, he was always the follower and let her go first to make sure that it was safe.  Eddie is nervous and tends to chew and tear up things like dog beds, paper products, etc. Shirley was the only reason that he didn't completely destroy the bed she slept in.  She would fuss at him for tearing stuff up and he would give me that goofy look with his tongue stuck out when he knew he probably shouldn't have torn up a third dog bed. Their foster has a lot to look forward to once they settle in.  She will love them and enjoy them as much as I. Dog beds are safe as long as Shirley is around. But Eddie is still a puppy and you know how puppies can be. I never used pads with them, but they never once peed or pooped in the house or crate.  They always asked to go outside. If the foster has trouble winning Eddie over, tell her a tiny piece of wiener will do the trick. He learned everything that I tried to teach him quickly with that particular treat.  Eddie was never impressed with regular doggie treats. Thanks, Lynne. I can now sleep well knowing the pups are safe at home with you.

They're HERE. They're HERE. How adorable they are. I just got them home. They are being sniffed by the Pack and I love them. They are gorgeous.

Just set Shirley in the floor and watch her spin.  LOL She will walk in front of you spinning as she goes.  Eddie will sit in the background and take it all in for awhile, then you will get to enjoy his neat personality once he warms up.  When you talk to him, he will listen intently, with his little tongue just a bit outside his mouth, then he gets all excited and begins to vibrate. They are a trip, needless to say. Please, please let me know when they get there safely.  Those harnesses didn't fit right at all.  A collar was out of the question because their heads are smaller than their bodies and slip right off especially poor little chubby Shirley. Once they know you, they mind really well, preferably with a tiny piece of a wiener treat, as I posted early.
