Well Thanksgiving 2009 has come and gone - Lots to be thankful for and yet still things to keep working on. As one of the Millions of drivers on the road for thanksgiving I can say I am very happy there wasn't much traffic. Luckily it appears that being on the road early paid off. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
This week was a big test for Max - as he was going to be exposed to a whole new group of people to befriend. First challenge - winning over the party hosts - This was right up Max's alley of capabilty. He bowled them over - walked in with his orange ball in mouth and behaved very well without any jumping / running or overt sniffing :-)
Max wowed my parents with his off leash response to commands, ball retrieval and general lovability :-)
The next challenge was still waiting for their arrival....... the nephews - three boys under 8 years old in a unfamiliar environment. Well that was a concern about nothing - They pulled up and barrelled out of their car - Max barrelled out of the house and they met head on - not to be seen for hours as they romped and played and chased each other around trees / thru the leaves and down the road. Big score - My nephew Jack bonded very well with Max and worked hard to learn the appropriate commands to have Max listen.
After many hours of play it was time to pack up and head home - Max said his good byes and hopped into the back seat where he proceeded to fall fast asleep for the journey home. A good introduction and welcome to the family for Max. Plenty of offers to have me leave Max with them - but thats not going to happen.
