Lynne brought Finnegan over today as she thought it would be better for her to be here with him when he first saw his new home. It was great seeing him again, and Lynne too of course. I really admire the work she and Jackie are doing especially when you see how happy and special their rescued doodles are....Finnegan looked great! He gained a bit of weight these past couple of weeks and seems so happy.
I felt bad for him and Lynne after she left. He sat at the door for a while looking for her and then alternated coming over to me for some petting and then going back to the door to look for Lynne. He eventully migrated into the dining room where he is resting in front of the biggest air conditioner in the house. I don't blame him - today is a scorcher. He went out very willingingly and did his business like the wonderful dog he is. I left the door open and stayed out with him until he decided he'd had enough sun and headed back into the cool of the house. He's still getting used to his new home, and me, and is very friendly and affectionate when I am petting him but is content to hang back a bit and watch everything I do.

I'll post more after he gets used to his new home a bit.

Thanks again Jackie and Lynne for everything and for all your hard work rescuing these wonderful dogs! I'm going to try and post a pic with this post....I'll see if I can get it to work.

He just may be part camel and he will hold it all night. We didn't have any accidents the whole month he was here. You may hear a muffled "huwuf" if he has to go out. He is a good boy about that. I am so glad he is settling in. Thanks for keeping us up on his "new life." I will always miss him but am very happy he has his "forever life!'

Thanks so much everyone! He's really settling in and warming up. He LOVES going out for a walk on the leash. That's when his true 2-year old self comes out. He bounds around like a puppy sniffing everything....he especially loves the fact that it's trash night and all the garbage cans are out!!! He's had the run of the backyard and house (I've been leaving the screen door open, except for the one time I accidentally closed it and he tried to bound through the door not knowing there was a sceen and he crashed and went flying back - oops) so he's been in the backyard off and on all evening. I haven't actually seen him pee outside since early evening so I've been trying to get him to go before we go up to bed but without any success. He doesn't have any interest in doing anything while walking on the leash - and when we're in the backyard, he just sits there and tries to get me to pet him. So I'm going to trust his "camel" adverstising and head to bed without really knowing when the last time he did anything was....it's been dark for hours so he could have done something while I wasn't watching. Oh well.....we'll see what the night brings. Good night everyone!

I love following Finn's progress and all of the special love and care he has had with Jacquie and Lynn. My heart breaks for Lynne and Jacquie and the sadness of letting him go even knowing he's going to the perfect home. You'll be a perfect mom Helen and he's finally in his "forever home" where I know he'll continue to thrive and flourish.

Yes, mellow is a perfect word for him. It probably takes a lot out of him to hop all the time, but his aura is definitely mellow. He will get spurts here and there and will chase a ball or happily come when called. He "IS" a Teddy Bear!

Thanks, everyone! Lynne - I know he misses you too, he's moved to the couch now so I think he's feeling more at home. He's very mellow. I just love him! He's like a big teddy bear.

OK, crying again! I am happy you are his new mom, Helen. Give him a little time and you will see the beautiful boy I have come to know. He has such a capacity for love in him which is even more unbelievable when you know his whole story. I will always be here for both of you! Kiss that beautiful nose for me.
