After our Golden Retriever passed in May, our hearts were broken. We weren't planning to get another dog until after the summer, but one day I was browsing the avaible dogs on this site and saw HIM!! I just knew he was THE ONE for us. A week later he was lying in the bed between me and my husband :-) He is such a wonderful guy. We got him on August 13th and it was like he'd always been here. He acclamated to us and the house and the daily routine immediately. The vet and everyone we meet say "What a great dog".... He is so lucky. But, you know what? We are the lucky ones. He loves everyone and everything. He plays so well with the other dogs in the dog park, he goes for hikes with me and even out in the kayak with me. He smiles! He doesn't shed. He's housebroken. He is learning commands very well. What more could we want? We are so blessed to have Balder as a new member of our family. Balder seems a strange name, but our Golden Retriever was named Thor. In Mythology, Thor had a brother that he was very close to and his name was Balder. So Balder is his name. Thank you to everyone running this site for the wonderful job that you do. The care and compassion and the thought and consideration you put into placing the dogs in just a wonderful, wonderful worthwhile and much needed job. Thank you!!!!

Comment by Gro I Paulsen on September 5, 2011 at 11:57pm Hi Susan, Thank you. I'm looking at your profile picture. I see your dog has a tennis ball in his mouth. My guy has one all the time.... it's like a pacifier!!! So cute. What type of dog do you have? He looks pretty similar to Balder. We are lucky to have them!

I am so happy for you, Gro! What a wonderful story.....thank you for sharing. Balder is lucky to have found a great home, but you are right in saying that you are also lucky! Ifeel the same about my two! Congratulations!
They do seem to find us when we need them the most. They rescue us just as much as we rescue them. Congratulations on finding each other.
