A new home in Oakville Ontario!

My boyfriend and I just bought our first home. What an amazing feeling it is. We lived in a tiny one bedroom apartment one city over and with two large breed dogs, it was starting to grate our sanity! Tessa, our doodle, is 64lbs and Cody, the beagle/boxer cross is 57lbs! Phew.

We were worried about the transition with the dogs. Being a new home, new smells... would they mark their territory? Would they chew things? We moved in yesterday and without a glitch. The dogs were so patient in their play pen while we packed the moving truck. When we brought them to the new house we let them romp in the backyard immediately. They happily sniffed and peed. They even found a stray tennis ball and had a blast chasing and trying to get it from each other.

When we had put quite a bit of stuff away, we let them in the house and they ran the stairs a bit, sniffed and checked out all the rooms. We set up there things in the basement (where we will keep them during the day) and they had some dinner. They go down there on their own and have a drink now and sometimes just sit on their bed and chew a bone. So they are definitely feeling comfortable. And they LOVE the stairs. Great exercise for them too.

By 5:00 p.m. their tongues were half way out their mouthes and they were looking for a place to rest.

I went down this morning to let them outside and they were still groggy with sleep. Too precious! We all ate breakfast together and I made a really nice kong treat for each other them before leaving for work. Hopefully when I get home in a couple of hours, the basement will be in one piece. Fingers crossed!

I will post a photo of them in their new living space soon...

Ciao and happy doodling :)
