The encouragement/optimism about finding a dog closer to home is helpful to know. I did see Joey is a little guy and my husband would prefer a bigger dog; we're being a little bit discriminating also in our desires for size/ht/color and of course temperment so I know it may be a bit specific but I don't want to put a pet in a position of having to be re-adopted if s/he's not a good fit for us. I have an application placed on this site, not any others just yet.

I have a cousin in NJ who has a Golden, a relative puppy <1 year old, that due to circumstances there they have to re-place. I should tell her about this site if she doesn't already know. It's been -- and I'm sure will continue to be -- very helpful.

I told my husband about this website today (that's our new DIL I'm pictured with) and how I saw a lovable looking fellow - thankfully he knows I'm talking about a doodle! - in AL. Got me to wondering how that works as we live in AZ. I imagine there are details about such procedures on this site I haven't yet read. We'd ideally like to add to our family sometime in 2010; we miss our loving Lab, Casey, who we had to part with after 14 and a half years shortly before my son's wedding this past October. Our home feels empty without her.

What should you do now? If you haven’t changed your icon photo to something more personal, it's easy to do...

In the upper right corner on any page click on "Settings" then. Upload a pic from your computer...browse, add, done. You can also change you question answers here. Don't forget to click save on the bottom & you should now have your own icon pic. You can also make your page personal & add some of your own pics by following other prompts on your main page. Don't be afraid to explore it.

Come join some groups! There is a lot to learn. Don't forget to click on "Follow" or "Notify" in Forum and Discussions. That way you get an e-mail notice whenever someone posts. Ask questions and play around. Let us know if you need anything.

Next, come join some discussions in the Main Forum, Start your own Blog and Join a few groups. Don't forget to click "Follow" or "Notify" in any discussion you wish to follow.
