Hi Syliva and Welcome. First of all, the doodles in the listings are NOT in our program so we have no control over who can adopt, or any other say. It is only a service we provide to show the number of doodles available in rescue. You would have to apply through them and follow their directions. The dogs in our program are listed in DRC Doodles under the Adoptable Doodles tab, above. You can send in one application to doodlerescuecollective@yahoo.com and specify Name or any other applicable dog. Our app can be found under the About Us Tab above.
Our Director, Liz is in CT and would be a great person to send a note to. She is part of our heart and soul of rescue here at The DRC. Good Luck in your search and let us know if you need help.
Hi Lynne, thank you for your note. As a newbie, my first question is this......do I only complete an application for a specific doodle or do you require a completed application prior to applying to adopt a specific doodle so you have our info on hand?
We live in Fairfield, CT and I notice that there are adorable doodles in Pennsylvania (Louis the doodle) and Maryland (Sunny the doodle) yet the info tells me that the agency only adopts within a certain geographic distance from their location. So, my second question is........am I restricted to the New England area when searching for a new four-legged addition to the family? I did write a note to SpankysProject in hopes of beginning discussions to adopt Louis the doodle. As Louis is deaf and we already have a special needs westie named William (deaf and 80% blind) that we rescued a year ago, I feel we would be able to provide Louis a wonderful forever family and home with the understanding and efforts required for a special needs dog. However, SpankysProject advised that we are 1.5hrs out of their adoption region and therefore not a consideration. If this is concrete and I cannot persue adoption of Louis, what areas/agencies should I be watching for given where we live?
Lynne, thank you for your guidance at the beginning of our journey to adopt a doodle. We are excited about adding a new four-legged addition to our family and providing a wonderful home to another dog.
