What a wonderful story! I am so glad that you had the big heart and courage to save his life. He is a beautiful boy! And lucky to be alive! All thanks to you!

Now I'm crying too. Lucky sweet boy. Joann & Ed thank you so much for saving him! He will love you both for the rest of his life. You're an angel that I knew...

Thank you for sharing his story with us.

OMG, Joann. I have tears in my eyes reading this. Thank you for what you did and for giving him life. You are his rescue angel. Sometimes we have to "just do it" because we can feel it's the right thing. Thank goodness you followed your instincts and just went. What an ordeal it must have been for him but he knows it's over and he will come into his own.

My Ginger was like that. She didn't know grass or food or how to be a dog. Slowly she let me near her, then touch her, then my kids and then my husband and slowly but surely she opened up to everyone.

Howie's story was sad and horrible, but not anymore. Now it's a happy story. Congratulations! If you have any problems or just need to talk, don't hesitate to write. Sending huge hugs...to both of you.

All about Howie;  He was listed on craig's list in Jax Fl. Dec 7th was his lucky day and also ours.

Ed was at work it was my day off.(that means I was solo).I spoke with his owner, who was also at work. The owner said that they got him from a pet store and that he was a year old. He also said that they didn't have time due to work and a new baby. The drive was 60 miles north in the woods. I started out not sure where I was going . I drove onto a dirt road in the middle of no where to find him outside in the cold with no water, he looked very thin and sick. I knew that we needed to get out of there fast.  Words can't describe, he needed to be lifted into my car. I drove back home in the car in the dark with a bad smell coming off him,he vomited in my car and I kept saying that I can't drive and cry at the same time. His hair was matted full of fleas and ticks and he had a open wound on his shoulder.

Ed came home to help me bath him and clean him up. Week one was 2 baths hair shaved and to the vet for meds.  We had to carry him out to the potty, we sat and laid with him all week. The only sound he made was a howl at 3 am.   Howie has been vetted and will be neutered this week. He is a love and has and always will have a home for Christmas.  Crazy 3 weeks and I'm sure he is just one of the horror stories.  He is coming into his own we are teaching him to play, he loves to go on walks, today he went to the beach,he eats like a crazy man.He is very happy and makes me smile everyday.Chloe is his sister she is helping him discover and explore. He is a remarkable survivor. I know in my heart that we are his people. This is the first time I've written this down.  Thank you for reading and letting me vent.  Joann Howie's mother
