It was an accidental breeding. The owners dumped both parents in a kill shelter in Louisiana. I pulled the Mom when she was pretty close to delivering.

I know there some intentional boxerdoodles bred. Most look like Irish wolfhounds but not as big. I don't know what breeders are looking for in the cross. Scout is funny in that she seems to have a poodle's hunting instinct. She'll follow a bird, rabbit, or squirrel until she comes to water. Then her boxer heritage asserts itself and she won't go any further.

She looks like neither breed and is difficult to fit for harnesses and collars, as she is narrow but her chest is deep. I see the boxer in her tail and her head in that her eyes are set more forward facing like a boxer's. She definitely has a boxer tongue and uses it excessively like a boxer! She also has a brindle stripe that is hard to see, and she uses her paws like a boxer. I don't know about poodle's personalities, but Scout has the playfulness, sweetness, joy, and sense of humor that I saw in my boxers.

Eliz, was the boxer-doodle a "mistake" or a purposeful breeding? Such a strange mix (but certainly adorable Scout). I'm glad YOU (Eliz) rescued them and that nice people like Kary opened their homes to them.

I had a HUGE Doodle rescue named Misty that ate a whole filet, skewer and all, off the counter flat-footed! I freaked out - now I don't get so worried, my dogs have eaten all sorts of stuff off the counters - most of mine are too big to even push the stuff far enough back to keep them out of it. I usually have to put stuff in the microwave or the oven to keep it safe....then I find it days later! ick!

I have a pic of the Mom somewhere I will post - her name is Abbey - cream Std Poodle. You would never think she could have popped out all those black and brown pups!
