DEDICATED IN MEMORY OF LYNNE'S BELOVED STANDARD POODLE MAGIC, WHO DIED TRAGICALLY FROM THE POISONED FOOD OF THE 2007 RECALLS, IN THE HOPES THAT THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ANOTHER BELOVED DOG.

THIS IS MAGIC'S LEGACY.

WELCOME TO THE ORIGINAL FOOD GROUP- Karen and I started this group because we each have personal experiences with many of the issues that are commonly discussed on dog forums regarding food, and because these experiences have led us to do extensive research in an attempt to obtain FACT-based knowledge of these issues. There are also many issues we would like to explore. We thought it would be helpful to put all of these questions, information, and feedback into one place where everyone can find it, contribute to it, ask questions, and learn together. -- Lynne

Magic Died in December 2006, just a couple months before the Recalls of 2007 where it was FINALLY admitted to by the Commercial Dog Food Companies. No wrong doing was ever admitted to, but the settlement from the Class Action Lawsuit amounted to $595. That was all Magic's life was worth?

Linda, have you checked out truthaboutpetfood.com (there's a red box direct to the site above)? They do a great job at calling attention to this issue and the more folks we can convince the better, on the grassroots level. The Commercial dogfood companies won't care unless their bottom lines are affected. Innova is an excellent food, I use it myself to supplement my homecooking.

My new baby was being fed Beneful and when I read the label, I threw it out and put Lizzy on Innova which is the same as Sammy!

I've had some PR , televsion and marketing backround-I really think we need to attempt to get national attention on this issue- want me to write and attempt to get one of the national networks to pay attention????

I love to read about dog owners taking charge of their pet's nutrition. I started researching dog diets when my doodle was gravely ill with IMHA, an immune disorder. He was able to recover, live longer, and amaze the vet, and I'm convinced it was due to his excellent kibble-free diet.
Here's a "recipe" trick that I use. At the end of the week, gather up your veggie scraps and run them through the blender with a little water. It creates an ugly brown sludge, but you can put it in mini muffin tins or ice cube trays and freeze it. Thaw and use as a "gravy" to add a bit of veggies to the meat. I also like to sprinkle sea kelp into the food to add some vitamins and minerals. And I'm a huge fan of omega 3s, usually salmon oil (stinky) but I just got some non-stinky hemp oil, too.
I recently adopted "Coda", an adorable doodle puppy, and although she wasn't too interested in food at first, she's started devouring my "meals". I hope to fatten her up and bring a gloss to her coat soon.
