I had our Lab on Fromm for a long time. She loved the chicken, which is human grade chicken and other healthy ingredients. The kibble size was easy for her to eat. From the time she was 5 years old until she passed away last October at 16 1/2 years old, she was only on the higher rated dog foods w/no fillers or "red flag" ingredients. I even made sure her treats had no corn and I preferred no wheat flour, but sometimes gave her those. Wellness brand have good wholesome treats. She lived a long time for a Lab and I know it was because we only gave her nutritious food and treats.

Fromm is a great food, Patricia. Thanks for sharing about it. I like to keep up with lists like this because in the past, great brands would be bought up by Big Dog Food and then the formula would change or ingredients would be bought in China or some other problem would make the food not Premium, any more. Of course, no-one would tell us about the changes until it was too late. By talking about it and keeping on top if it, hopefully we keep another dog from dying too young.

Thanks, Lynne....this is so helpful! I feed Orijen kibble with one meal a day of Honest Kitchen. It is always so hard to know what is a good food when there are so many on the market. I haven't made the move to cooking for my dogs yet like you do. I imagine the Honest Kitchen is the closest to that. I do supplement with apples, carrots, etc as treats and Three Dog Bakery cookies that they love (one a day, since Lola needs to lose weight).

I still free feed kibble. I like to keep up on all this because I do switch up my kibble with every bag. Don't forget, too, these companies could change hands or change formulas, so it's good to check every now and then. This list was compiled as of this month. I just subscribed to their list so I will keep an eye on these brands. But it's nice to have the list.
