A FOOTNOTE TO ADOPTERS

"Lassie and Cleo and Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively 'trained,' and badly treated. Most Rescue dogs have had it. They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up. But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a 'bargain,' or indeed of 'getting' anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue dog will make you a better person."

Jenny, you could send them a note that The Doodle Rescue Collective has worked successfully people looking to rehome (because of "reasonable" reasons). But asking $600. is selling a dog, not rehoming. This could be a breeder selling off her older pups and the lower one says the dog is second gen but looks like a retriever. Like I said, you could send a note but we will not pay for dogs but will help "free to good homes" people avoid unscrupulous people looking for free dogs. There are sample letters in rescue resources.

Description:

Date Listed 12-Sep-09
Price $600.00
Address 846 glamorgan rd, Peterborough, ON View map

I am looking for a permanent home for my 5 month old puppy. I recently accepted a job whereby I will be required to travel quite a bit, so therefore, wont have the time that I used to. Bear is very intelligent and learns his commands quickly. He is house trained and loves to please.

Bear is non-shedding and de-wormed. He loves his 3 daily walks. He needs a fenced backyard. He is very social with other dogs and has boundless energy.

Included in prices is his food, crate, leashes, treats, bones, toys and training treats.
Serious enquiries only please.

Male goldendoodle, 8 mths, Brampton... needing a new home. This is what the ad says:

I am looking for a good home for Nemo, our 8 month old Golden Doodle. Nemo is a good-natured, energetic pup, who likes to play with kids, enjoys long walks but also loves to curl at your feet and enjoy quiet time on the deck. Although he is a second generation Golden Doodle, Nemo looks like a Golden Retriever. House trained and with all vaccinations up to date. Smart and easy to train. If you are looking for a great companion for yourself and/or your kids, please contact us

BROUGHT HOME OUR FIRST FOSTER DOG TODAY!

Hi all, Just wanted to say that Meg (aka Peggy Sue) is home in Austin with us for a little while as our first foster. Kim Konradi (TX DRRC rep) arranged for me to pick her up between here and Dallas. Meg is a love of a dog... so sweet and someone obviously spent some time training her. Our house has been chaotic today with kids' friends and people over for dinner, etc., but Meg has handled it all with ease. My kids are over the moon getting to have this fostering experience. I'll try to get some good pics to post, but as I have read, photographing black doodles is pretty tough. :)

Hi everyone! I took a long ride today (80 miles round trip) and I went to check on this boy today who is at the Maricopa Animal Shelter in Phoenix, AZ. He is listed on PetFinder and at the shelter (on our pages as well) as A2736825. He is in treatment for kennel cough and treatment was scheduled to end tomorrow. (It started on 7/31) He is black, super friendly, more labby looking than poodle, coat wise. His coat is longer than a Lab with some curl to it, Long lanky body like a doodle with a big black nose and full tail. Very thin, was turned in "over the counter" as a stray according to the Shelter worker. He is as tall as Marlow, so not really a medium dog, but thin. They estimate he is around 3 years old. He did have a few white hairs in the hair above his eyes, but muzzle was jet black. My camera wouldn't work, darn it! The shelter guy said he would be put up for adoption once he gets the all clear from the kennel cough. Right now they are not desperate for space, so he didn't think euthanasia would be an issue, but we can call back at 602-506-2765 to check on him. I can't stress how good tempered this dog is. When I walked up to the cage in the Vet Clinic he wagged his tail and when I put my hand down to the cage by his nose, he licked me, then did the stretch with the front paws and head down on the floor with the butt up in the air, tail wagging, like "please get me out of here!". There was almost no one there today adopting animals. So sad! Doesn't someone want a wonderful black Doodle??

We have seen many descriptions like that, J. It is really sad. It breaks our hearts. Hopefully, Scruffy will find "real people" who will love him forever.

I must admit there a lot in TX! But it is a big state! We all have to work to find Jeannine a doodle now!
