A sweet two year old mix, spayed, utd on everything...needs a ride back home to her rescue origins. If anyone can assist her, I would be very grateful. Please email me directly @ marypatf@aol.com.  Thanks so much. ere is a bit of her story:

Savannah was transported north to be adopted by a couple up in northern NJ/NYC metro area. They did adopt her, loved her dearly... but found out that she has too much energy for them. This older couple was busy caring for their grandchildren and Savannah was great with the kids. (Just as an FYI). I took her from this couple as a foster. She was then adopted as a ''trial'' for a long weekend by a family who loved her , again had to let her go for their own reasons: they could not control her on walks, the pulling, staring at other dogs, barking loudly trying to get over to them... the dog weighs 40-42 lbs and is very musclular.  and strong? well, at age 2, of course Savannah is at the top of her game! She loves to play ball, chew her toys, has a huge appetite for all her food... she delights in her food bowl at every meal, so cute to observe! Like ''happy hour'' for humans, she dances her way over to her kibble, LOL! Her athletic ability is quite amazing!  she was returned to me with great regret from this very kind family. They require a laid back, docile pup but they were so enchanted by Savannah that they gave it a go anyway, hoping she would be their newest family member. It was a learning experience for them and a great ''weekend at sleep away camp'' for Savannah. No harm done. But here she is, still waiting to be adopted, for 2 months now. I am fostering this little dog until she can be adopted here in NJ or transported to her original rescue in NC.

Did I mention, she is an escapee from a GA miller. ( Hence, her name). I am already full up or I would keep this little cutie. She has her issues, as do we all, probably because she has terrier in her... yes, a stubborn streak! Secondly, Savannah approaches other dogs with the full force of her terrior personality.  (She is a ''do things my way'' kind of gal). It took about a week for her to settle in with my 3 large breed dogs and she is fine with them now, playing happily, no food aggression, etc. But she has to become accustomed to every dog she meets. I believe Savannah never learned the proper dog language from her mamma and littermates; her intro is overwhelming to most dogs. But after a bit, they settle down and relax, play, get to know one another. IMO, Savannah is not un-adoptable!! She needs to have a right fit, so to speak, with the right family. Savannah loves to cuddle on the sofa or better yet, your lap, to watch TV in the evening. If you are looking for a dedicated companion, Savannah certainly fits the bill!

Her pic is not great but it is listed on Petfinder if you want to take a peek. Meanwhile, any transport going to pick up in NC vicinity, please email me if you can squeeze in a furry faced friend named Savannah? Thanks all.

MP, there are tons of transports that run up and down the east coast every weekend, but most are about $125-145 per dog, coming up. I don't know what they charge going back. When you gave me the info for her ad, I asked for some better pictures, which probably would have helped a lot to get her adopted. Can you send me private email and tell me the NC rescue and let's try to figure this out. You know, I would take her into OofD but we are just so full right now. Do you really think sending her back down South is best for her? Has the NC rescue asked you to do this? They should be paying for the transport and should know/work with transporters already.

Hi, Lynne and thanks for your reply.  RE: pictures: I have been waiting for my daughter to come take pix of Savannah and transfer/download the pix to PetFinder for me. June is a crazy busy months for teachers  (as you are aware)! and just now settling into the beginning of her summer camp counselor job, so pretty soon, my daughter will have time to come by and do this for me. I do not know how to do it, so yes, I am pc challenged , even in this day and age. Meanwhile, I emailed and /or telephoned each app that came in. No luck so far but I am not discouraged. It only means Savannah's furever family has not been found yet. I did not ask to have her taken into our Oodles specifically because I am aware that we are so full, as you say... and there are always more waiting for a spot.  I was not looking for another foster when Savannah came to my attention, however, I was so afraid this woman/couple who had her would be tricked by someone looking for a bait dog because she is feisty and exactly what fighter dogs are exposed to, for practice. That is the reason I am fostering her to begin with. Several urban areas where dog fights are known to prevail are very close to my town. She was listed on CL and on our town board as ''FREE to good home"  and we all know where that can go - and FAST! So here she is. I am NOT thrilled with the idea of returning her to her rescue in NC. The individual is exactly that, a single woman doing her thing. But she is working in a network, something like ours, matter of fact. She immediately replied to me in the affirmative, that indeed, she would take Savannah back to her own home. I am limited here in that I can only foster for 2-3 weeks before the pups have to move along. This is a compromise I made for family reasons /personal reasons.  I have had Savannah for 2 months + now so it is really time for her to be going forward in her life's journey. I am already seeing her become attached to me. Since she is not ''an official Oodle foster'', I don't want to be a pest with her and certainly I don't expect anyone to take over my responsibility ... and dear Lynne, I KNOW you would help with any foster dog in need, absolutely. but since the adoptive apps have not been fruitful so far, looking for a ride back home for her , to her original rescue group seems like a workable solution. Savannah is much more than the original adopter had bargained for and she is still a handful, for me. But she is at least a very sweet dog for me and not a huge amount of trouble! She is not aggressive to me or anything negative like that. It is her over the top personality that doesn't jive here with my other dogs. While she was away at her possible family trial visit, our household was so much quieter and more manageable... her return made me realize how much adjusting everyone does for her sake. God bless my husband! He works with her every day, too. The misfit is due to my own dogs' temperaments and hers not meshing  well nor easily.  rescue dogs, asall of mine are, ca retain issues from their past, as we all know. My solution is to rotate crate time, play time outside, time inside with me, one on one, etc. and while working well, it is extremely time consuming and not an answer for the long haul. I do not want her to spent so much time crated. She and all my dogs rotate time outs in the crates. I am feeling very guilty about it now so I want to move things along in an expedient manner.  I followed her rescue back to its origins and emailed the original who took her from GA miller. That is the NC person I will return her to, unless Savannah gets adopted before I can  transport her. That rescue only runs transport once a month, so I came here to check out our resource list, see if I could get her on board . And that is the long and short of the story of Savannah!  : )  I welcome your advice, suggestions and inquiries, Lynne and everyone here in our collective. Please jump in with ideas, answers and solutions for this deserving little dog!  Thanks, everyone.

and PS... Lynne, I will email you privately with the person's name and email addy. I have to retrieve it from my files, will take a bit of time as I am busy all this evening with my son's birthday dinner -- yaay!  I can do that this evening after the celebration, OK? Thanks again, Lynne.  You are amazing! Your help is MUCH APPRECIATED!!
