I also try to bring animal issues to the forefront everyday with my family and friends but this article has informed me of other things I can do on a daily basis for animals. Thank you. Very interresting reading :)

I don't think substituting dairy products for meat does much to alleviate animal suffering. In fact, dairy cows are generally treated worse than "beef" cattle. And in every glass of milk, there's a bit of veal. The male calves born to dairy cows are nearly always taken away and chained in stalls so small they can't turn around or even lie down. This torture lasts for months, then they are brutally slaughtered. Dairy cows are slaughtered at 4 years old (they can live to 40!) and used for fast food burgers.
It's better for you and the animals to get your protein, calcium and other minerals from beans, seeds, lentils, nuts and whole grains.
The countries where dairy consumption is highest, also have the highest osteoporosis rates! Dairy does not help bones, in fact the protein in dairy leaches calcium out of your system, so the net effect is weaker bones.
